How do you score points in table tennis?

How do you score points in table tennis?

Here's how points are scored in table tennis:

Scoring a Point:\

You win a point if your opponent:

Fails to return the ball after it bounces on their side of the table.

Hits the ball before it bounces on their side (unless it already cleared the table).

Hits the ball twice consecutively.

Hits the ball outside the playing area (off the table or onto the opponent's side).

Touches the net with their body or clothing while playing the ball.

Game Structure:

Each game is played to 11 points, but with a two-point lead requirement. This means the first player to reach 11 points with a two-point lead wins the game. If the score reaches 10-10, the game continues until one player gains a two-point advantage.

Players serve two points in a row, then the serve switches to the opponent.

After each game, players switch sides of the table.

Match Structure:

A match typically consists of the best of an odd number of games, usually 3 or 5 games for singles and 5 games for doubles

they player or team who wins the majority of games wins the match.

Here are some additional points to note:

Double Bounce Rule: The ball must bounce once on each player's side of the table during a rally

Serving Rules: Specific rules govern the serve, including starting the serve with the ball on the palm of your open hand and hitting it upwards so it bounces once on your side and then over the net.
