Between boxers and footballers, who is richer?
In general, footballers tend to be richer than boxers. Here's why:
Higher Salaries: Top footballers playing for major clubs can command salaries in the tensor even hundreds of millions of dollars per year. Boxers, on the other hand, typically only get a big payday if they fight in a major pay-per-view event. Even then, the purse is often split between the boxers.
Longer Careers: Footballers can typically have long careers lasting over a decade at the top level. Boxers, due to the physical demands of the sport, often have shorter careers and may only have a handful of high-profile fights.
Endorsement Deals: Football has a much larger global fanbase than boxing. This means footballers have more opportunities to secure lucrative endorsement deals with major brands.
However, there are some exceptions:
Superstar Boxers: A select few boxers, like Floyd Mayweather Jr., have been able to leverage their fame into massive paydays through shrewd negotiation and pay-per-view deals.
Financially Secure Boxers: Some boxers come from wealthy backgrounds or have good financial advisors and are able to manage their money well, preserving their wealth after retirement.
So, while footballers tend to have a higher earning potential throughout their careers, there can be some outliers in boxing who achieve exceptional wealth.
