How is Derek Draper now?

Unfortunately, Derek Draper passed away on April 8, 2023, at the age of 56, after a long and courageous battle with the long-term effects of COVID-19. He had been in and out of the hospital since contracting the virus in March 2020, suffering from severe damage to his organs and requiring constant care.

His wife, Kate Garraway, announced his passing in a heartbreaking Instagram post, writing: "I'm sad to say that my darling Derek has passed away. Derek and I had the most incredible life together, full of so much fun and laughter and silliness. He was the kindest, wisest, most compassionate man I knew and he changed my life for the better in so many ways."

Derek's story, as documented by Kate in her two documentaries, "Finding Derek" and "Caring for Derek," became a symbol of hope and resilience for many families facing the challenges of long COVID. His death was a tragic loss, but his memory lives on through the love and support of his family and friends, and the millions of people he touched with his story.
