Minnesota flag
The current flag of Minnesota was adopted on May 11, 2024, after a public vote. It is a simple design consisting of two panels, one light blue and one navy blue. The light blue panel represents the state's many lakes, while the navy blue panel resembles the shape of Minnesota. In the center of the navy blue panel is an eight-pointed star, which is a symbol of the state's Native American heritage.
The flag was designed by Andrew Prekker, a resident of Luverne, Minnesota. The design was chosen from over 2,600 submissions in a competition that was open to the public. The new flag was praised by many for its simplicity and symbolism, and it quickly became popular with Minnesotans.
